Domino

There's a girl I know.
She used to be my Domino.
Let her sway and fall into me
on a bender.
There's a place I go
where the drinks stay cheap
and the lights stay low,
but I can't for the best of me remember
the ugly things she'd say to me
before she turned away from me.
Burned my eyes, so I can't see
Now I-don't-know-what.
But she's my sunshine.
Teeth stained with red wine.
Keeps me at low tide.
She's my sunshine.
When she threw my keys
off the eleventh story balcony,
I was saved in a bastion of methomania.
Gotta save my soul,
'cause you can't lean in to Domino.
I give up. Got my white flag out.
I surrender.
'Cause we've got hell to overpay,
and if these clouds would float away
I'd avert my eyes and I would say
I-don't-know-what...
But she's my sunshine.
Teeth stained with red wine.
Keeps me at low tide.
She's my sunshine.

Cleansing

Ever since you mounted me, I'm afraid you'd deny it.
You never need to break the skull, just pull out the things inside it.
On your body you painted your hairs. The one's that matter.
The one's that divide you.
I can see around the world,
It's all about me. I can't escape it.
In the veins in the heart it's dirty like gravy.
In the veins in the heart it's dirty like things in my eyes
And they're forced opened wide. Loads come pouring on everything.
All emotions will be welcome.
Sell it all with a part of me. Total silence,
I've got problems.
Understanding opens you up all the bad gets inside you.
Ever since you mounted me I'm afraid that I am dying.

Eight

Aw shit...
You've gotta find god if you wanna quit...
Dim-lit...
Just gotta walk around for a little bit...
Wait.
It don't take a wino to relate.
Forever's just a figure-eight.
Figure-eight, and counting back again.
We dance on the plank,
and wake in the sink.
We'll open our hearts in india ink.
Sick in the sun.
Ape on my back.
Just one candy heart,
turned licorice-black.

Choker

Float up that 40 Creek again. Thinking about you, I can taste that bitter end I chased down with lime, and I pretend that I've got some kind of foolish pride left to defend.
But I buried my heart in your back yard, next to your juniper. I buried my heart in your back yard, where everything grows and dies.
Two hundred kilometer lead. On the obedient end of the choke chain, a throat bleeds. But you can't waste time, 'cause it wastes itself on the wrists and walls of the young, and on their health.
Not gonna find me.
Not the best parts, anyway.
It took a shovel just to set me free.

What It Severely Is Not
04:14
|

This is not the sweet Kentucky sunshine I and mine remember, but bless your heart for the weight I felt; like the motor was running on my 'divine surrender'. And this is not the bleak but certain shipwreck that I felt was mine to render. I guess it's not a point I'm trying to make, it's an attempt to hold my temper. So here's to getting more out of it, while the getting's still good. Here's to dragging heavy hearts.
'Cause you've got to know when to put the dog down.
You've got to wear your smile like a plastic crown.
They're going to tie your wrists to the chopping blocks,
and they're going to make you watch.
And this is not the monster that I made it out to be - an exaggeration. It eats your heart, but everything and everyone must end its own starvation. So build the room around the bomb. Kill to save yourself, and make a liar out of me.
